Reporting an Absence

In accordance with Alaska State Law every child between the ages of seven and sixteen years of age shall attend school. The District requires schools to track students’ absences. A phone call from a parent or legal guardian the morning of the absence is the best way to excuse an absence. Please call 742-3300. Please leave a message if we are unable to speak with you directly. The first bell rings at 8:50 AM. Students should line up in their designated spot by this time, ready to go into the building. School begins at 9:00 AM. Students are tardy if they arrive after 9:00 AM. They should come in to the office to get a tardy pass. If your child is going to be absent, we request that you phone the school office at 742-3300 as soon as possible that morning. If you are planning a trip, please plan ahead. Along with calling the office, talk with your child/children’s teacher to get any makeup work or assignments. Please note that these absences count in your son/daughter’s overall attendance. If your student will be out for three or more consecutive days, please fill out and turn in a Prearranged Absence Form
